Ascension Saint Thomas Rutherford Foundation to Host 2nd Annual Golf Tournamen

MURFREESBORO, Tenn.  – Ascension Saint Thomas Rutherford Foundation is pleased to announce the 2nd Annual Ascension Saint Thomas Rutherford Foundation Golf Tournament. The event will take place on Monday, May 16, at the Stones River Country Club to benefit the Dr. Jim Boerner Nursery- Pediatric Fund.

The Nursery-Pediatric Fund was established in 1984 and serves Labor and Delivery, the Well Baby Nursery, the Lee and Susan Moss Family NICU, and the Pediatric unit at Ascension Saint Thomas Rutherford. In 2021, 3,565 babies were born at the hospital. Over the past six years, the foundation has funded over $738,500 for the Dr. Jim Boerner Nursery-Pediatric Fund.

“We are so excited to be hosting our 2nd annual golf tournament to raise funds for some of our smallest and most vulnerable patients,” said Virigina DeJean, Ascension Saint Thomas Rutherford Foundation Director. “Over the years, this fund has been used to purchase equipment such as infant warmers and cardiac neonatal intensive care cardiac monitors for the nursery, provide car seats for families in need, and provide nurses and staff with financial assistance for continuing education.”

2nd Annual Ascension Saint Thomas Rutherford Foundation Golf Tournament - Continued...

The tournament will begin with breakfast, an opening ceremony featuring Ascension Saint Thomas Rutherford postpartum nurse Kara Forge, alongside her husband, Heath, and their son, Jackson, a NICU graduate. Golfers will tee off at 9:30 a.m. starting at the private course that runs alongside the Stones River. Lunch will be provided by The Alley on Main, along with complimentary alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages throughout the day. Each participant will receive a goody bag and a $25 gift certificate to the pro shop. In addition, golfers can compete for prizes for longest drive, closest to the pin, monster drive, and putting contest.
