(MURFREESBORO) May 15-21, 2022 is National Police Week. This event honors officers who have made the supreme sacrifice or have been wounded while serving the community. Thank you to all of the peace officers with the various agencies who keep Rutherford County safe!
Peace Officers Memorial Day and Police Week are observances in the United States that pay tribute to fallen officers. The day was created in 1962 when Congress asked President John F. Kennedy to honor the nation’s law enforcement officers. According to a 2002 proclamation by President George W. Bush, “Peace Officers Memorial Day and Police Week pay tribute to local, state, and federal law enforcement officers who serve and protect us with courage and dedication.”
