(MURFREESBORO) Did you realize that this area's first public library was at the Woman's Club? It operated from 1887 to 1948 when Linebaugh began. The local 501(c)(3) group is still located in the 1856 Italianate style home at the corner of East College and Academy Streets. 

According to the group's website, the founding members of The Woman's Club of Murfreesboro sought to promote reading, literacy, cultural enlightenment, beautification of our city, and to provide volunteer services to a wide variety of social needs. Today, their members continue to remain active in volunteerism at the local, state and national levels within a number of organizations. Scholarship opportunities are funded from a variety of the organization's fundraising efforts. 

This spacious historical home is just off the Murfreesboro square, and has been used for elegant gatherings, weddings, anniversaries, dinners and other elegant social events. 

Legacy Event

It takes much to maintain a 166-year old home, and that is why the Woman's Club will be open to the public with its LEGACY EVENING from 5:30 to 8:30 on Saturday night, July 23, 2022. 

The Woman’s Club of Murfreesboro will celebrate 106 years with the 2022 Legacy Gathering on July 23, 2022, from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. This fundraising event will celebrate the founding of The Woman's Club and its historic Library and will benefit the continued preservation efforts for the Baskette/Woman's Club house.

Guests at the Legacy Gathering will enjoy a delicious small plate and dessert bar provided by Tasty Table and Olive Branch Bakery, along with wine provided by Stones River Total Beverages, as well as tea and other beverages.

Tickets for this event are $75 per person which includes food, music and beverages. All proceeds from this event will benefit the Historic Preservation Fund designated for this beautiful historic building. The Woman’s Club of Murfreesboro is a 501[c][3] and all donations are tax deductible.
