Cyberknife looks sharp in Haskell

In the quest to determine who is the best three-year-old male of 2022, the Haskell Stakes on July 23 may have provided a clue.

Cutting up the rail, Cyberknife made the lead late and held off the talented Taiba in this grade 1 run at Monmouth Park. So what tells us that this victorious son of Gun Runner might be the cream of the 2022 classic distance crop? Let us expound.

The Haskell featured a very talented field including the previously unbeaten Jack Christopher. With this win, the Brad Cox-trained Knife has now won two million dollar races this year (Arkansas Derby, Haskell) and four of six starts since the calendar turned. Yes, he finished way back in the Kentucky Derby (18th), but his hard-working conditioner patiently put him back into form.

The tactical speed and explosive turn of foot he used to win the Haskell makes this Gold Square LLC-owned colt dangerous anytime he toes the track. Is he the best three-year-old male of 2022?... Without question, he has to be in the conversation. As is the case with most things in sports when it comes to speculation…Time will tell.
