Monday Afternoon 3,080 MTE Customers Dark

(MURFREESBORO)  A series of storm-related events caused several power outages Monday afternoon (7/25/2022) in Murfreesboro, Rockvale and Walter Hill area. Middle Tennessee Electric reported 3,080 customers without power at various times after 2:11PM.

Amy Byers' told NewsRadio WGNS, "A tree fell on the lines at Poplar and W. Clark Avenues. 2,600 members were affected. Power was restored at 4:24PM." 

Traffic signals were out along Broad Street as well as Memorial Boulevard from Lokey to beyond Northfield. Murfreesboro Police officers directed the traffic flow and quickly got things back to normal. 

Here are the main outages on July 25, 2022: 

  • Walter Hill approximately 60 persons (2:11PM)
  • Northfield-Memorial area 2,600 members (3:07PM)

Between 2:11 and 3:26PM there were smaller outages in the

  • Walter Hill area (2:11PM)
  • Bridge Avenue area  (3:07PM)
  • Almaville Rd. (3:15PM)
  • Windrow Rd.  (3:26PM)

Byers reminded area residents, "Whenever the power is out at your location, don't wait and think someone else will call it in. Everyone should phone MTE's power outage number 877-777-9020."
