Main Street Murfreesboro/Rutherford County held its twenty-eighth annual luncheon and meeting Tuesday (2/26/2013) at the Maple Street Grill. City Tile and Floor Covering received the Business of the Year Award, while Demos' Restaurant was spotlighted with the Design Award for the renovation of a historic home on Maney Avenue for corporate offices.

Design Award

Main Street's Design Award went to Demos' Restaurant who renovated a home on Maney Avenue in the historic district for its corporate offices.

The public has been complimenting the growing local retaurant group for preserving history with the renovation of a home on Maney Avenue to serve as its corporate office.

Another family business was honored with the prestigious Business of the Year Award going to City Tile and Floor Covering.

Passing Main Street's Leadership

Two term Chair Bill Shacklett said, "I am proud to report an exceptional year for downtown. We continue to provide an aesthetically beautiful place for us to come together as a community, and an economically viable location for business."

Shacklett said, "Some of my most treasured friendships, my best friends for life, have been established with those of you here in our downtown area." Bill and his sister Gloria Christy operate Shacklett's Photography, which was started in 1936 by their dad, Dick Shacklett.
