Motorcycles, Cars and Runners Take to the Streets September 17th for the 14th Annual Hammer Down for Habitat Poker Run

Murfreesboro, TN – Supporters of Rutherford County Area Habitat for Humanity will take to the streets on September 17th for the 14th Annual Hammer Down for Habitat Poker Run. This year’s event includes a 26-mile Marathon Relay Run, in addition to the 95-mile poker run for motorcycles and cars. The theme is Ride, Drive, Run for Habitat for Humanity.

Nissan USA is the Presenting sponsor this year and will have some cars at the event. Chevrolet-Buick-GMC of Murfreesboro is a Platinum sponsor and will also have some special cars at the event as well as some from Smithson Speed and Engineering and MC Kevin Tetz. Several clubs are also expected to be there including MTE’s EV Car Club, the Stones River AACA (Antique Automobile Club of America), Iron Order Motorcycle Club, and the British Car Club, among others.

This is an exciting event where 100+ motorcycles and cars start at the Habitat ReStore at 850 Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd, in Murfreesboro at 8:00 am, and “run” a scenic 95-mile route through Middle Tennessee, ending back in Murfreesboro for lunch and entertainment at Hop Springs Beer Park on John Bragg Highway.

Runners will meet at 6:30 am at Hop Springs and complete their Marathon Relay in time for lunch and event activities. The Marathon Relay is open to all level runners as they can run as much or as little as they want as part of a team. All runners will receive a Marathon medal. The Marathon is being organized by Redeemed Runners and Fleet Feet. Planet Fitness is the Finishing Line Sponsor. 

Proceeds from Hammer Down will go towards building affordable housing for area residents at Habitat’s Legacy Pointe subdivision in Murfreesboro. The Future Homeowner Family for this house, Edwardo and Arionna, will be at the event.

Date: Saturday, Sept. 17
Time: 8am, registration (riders out around 8:30 am), 12:00 – 2:30 pm at Hop Springs Beer park (6670 John Bragg Highway, Murfreesboro)
Place: Start at the Habitat ReStore at 850 Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd, in Murfreesboro. Lunch and entertainment at Hop Springs Beer Park.

Poker Run: the run route will be from Habitat for Humanity on Mercury Blvd to Chapel Hill, Columbia, Arrington Vineyard and then back to Murfreesboro and Hop Springs Beer Park. Motorcycle riders and car drivers will get a “poker hand” at the beginning and pick up additional cards along the route – all for poker hand prizes.

Marathon Relay Run: Runners will start at 6:30 am for registration at Hop Springs Beer Park and leave around 7 am.

Cost: $35 for each rider/driver/runner, $25 for each passenger and $15 for those just coming to the event at Hop Springs, which includes lunch and entertainment. Special Guest/MC: Kevin Tetz, host of several national automotive TV shows and current host of “Hands on Cars” (Amazon) Kevin has been the TV host of DIY Network’s “Classic Rides” and Spike Network’s “TRUCKS!” and “Power Nation”. Kevin is a nationally known paint and body work expert and artist and appears on national TV and car shows.

Entertainment: Whiskey Smoke, country and southern rock for all ages.
