(MURFREESBORO) The final MIDDLE HALF MARATHON began Sturday morning on East Main in front of Central Magnet School under sunny and cool skies. More than 1,200 runners are participating in this year’s 13.1-mile run. The race paid tribute to Miles Tate, the event founder who passed away suddenly in April of this year.
This is the 15th race for The Middle Half to take place, which was skipped only one year during the COVID Pandemic.
Co-founder Melinda Tate reminisced . . .
16-years-ago Miles and Melinda Tate felt that Murfreesboro needed a half marathon to springboard the running community. Since that time, the Murfreesboro Half Marathon (“The Middle Half”) has been a fixture in our community with the focus on the health and well-being of runners from all over Tennessee and beyond.
The Murfreesboro Middle Half Marathon has become a tradition in the Heart of Tennessee. Parks and Recreation Department's Director Nate Williams was asked how it felt know that this would be the "swan song" for the popular event . . .
Are there any future races coming to Murfreesboro . . .
Many residents have their own inspirational stories and can attest that this race has been an amazing event with lots of memories for everyone.
