Gas Prices are Down at the Start of This Week in Rutherford County

RUTHERFORD COUNTY, Tenn. - Average gasoline prices in Rutherford County have fallen 2-cents per gallon in the last week, averaging $3.36/g today (Monday), according to GasBuddy's daily survey. Prices in Rutherford County are one penny cheaper than the states average of $3.37 per gallon and .55-cents cheaper than the national average at $3.91 per gallon on Monday. Throughout the United States, Tennessee is currently the 5th least expensive state to refill your gas tank.

If you exclude the rural gas stations throughout Rutherford County and only focus on Murfreesboro, Smyrna and LaVergne, the average price per gallon drops from $3.36 to $3.22. Murfreesboro currently has the lowest price per gallon, averaging $3.17 for regular unleaded fuel. Smyrna and LaVergne start the week off tied at $3.24 per gallon for regular unleaded gas.

The highest price of fuel in Tennessee was recorded on June 12th of this year at $4.64 per gallon. Over the past 14-years, the cheapest price of gas in Tennessee rang in at an average price of $1.46 per gallon on January 2, 2009.

The national average price of gas is up 20.6 cents per gallon from a month ago and stands 56.6 cents per gallon higher than a year ago, according to GasBuddy data compiled from more than 11 million weekly price reports covering over 150,000 gas stations across the country.

In the diesel department, the national average price has increased by 18.7 cents in the last week and stands at $5.06 per gallon. Prices for diesel in Rutherford County range from $4.55 per gallon to $5.35 per gallon.
