La Vergne Alderman Election Awaiting Official Certification; One Vote Separates Two Candidates

Nov 12, 2022 at 04:45 pm by WGNS

The race for two alderman seats in La Vergne is "tight as a tick," as one area resident put it. There's just one vote separating challenger Kara Hobbs and incumbent Graeme Coates, who finished second and third in the voting election day behind Carol Haas. There were two seats on the board up for grabs November 8th.

Coates, as you may recall, was appointed to the board after the resignation of Matt Church in 2020 after an indictment on forgery and theft charges in Davidson County.

The election results will be certified by the Rutherford County Election Commission November 21st. There are a handful of provisional ballots that will be looked at by the commission before certifying the vote. With just one vote separating the two, it's possible those could make a difference.

WGNS will continue to follow the story and bring you any updates.
