(SMYRNA, TN) There was a serious four-vehicle accident on Bell Road near Jefferson Pike in Smyrna around 1:00 o'clock Saturday afternoon (2/11/2023).
Of the four vehicles, one of them was a 4-door 2003 Hyundai Accent copact car that rolled over. The vehicle received heavy damage, and its driver was seriously injured and taken to Vanderbilt Medical Center.
Smyrna officials told NewsRadio WGNS that the other three vehicles were not a part of the rollover, but were involved in the crash as a result of reacting to the rollover."
Initial plans were to fly the seriously injured male driver by an air ambulance, but paramedics treated him at-the-scene, and Rutherford County Emergency Medical Services decided to transport the patient on-the-ground.
There were no other injuries.
The narrow Bell Road near Jefferson Pike had to be shut-down to allow Smyrna Police traffic investigators to gather evidence. The road was cleared and reopened.
