Tennessee is the 10th Fastest Running State

Tennessee was ranked as having the 10th fastest runners in the United States, while runners in Pennsylvania are the fastest in the U.S., with District of Columbia and New York coming third.

Personalized running assistant Joggo collected data from 34,003 U.S. runners and released a ranking of the fastest states. It shows that the average jogging pace across all states is 13.39 minutes per mile.

Data reveals that typically Pennsylvanian runners reach a pace of 12.31 minutes per mile, runners in District of Columbia run a mile in 13.14 minutes, and runners in New York take 13.17 minutes on average. The slowest state on the list is Tennessee, reaching the pace of 13.33 minutes per mile. “According to our data of more than 34K people, beginner runners in the US run at a pace of 13.19 minutes per mile.

Recently, there were no similar large-scale studies made for non-professional athletes, so I believe this study will help more people set realistic expectations about their running goals,” explains Kristijonas Zibutis, CEO at Joggo.

Active runner communities can help people to stay motivated for longer. The inspiration to run can come from anything – signing up to a competition in Pennsylvania, preparing for a marathon in New York, or signing up for a challenge on a fitness app.”
