In the words of Mars Blackmon... "It's gotta be da shoes".

So how many remember the fictional character in the Nike commercials of the late 1980's early '90's? Those that had Michael Jordan touting his Air Jordan line when everybody on the basketball court wanted to be like Mike.

Fast forward to 2023 and some are making the same statement about the much-improved Lady Bulldogs of Smyrna High. After falling on some hard times, this proud program with state titles in the trophy case has enjoyed a nice season (10-11 entering district tournament play). Of course, Mars would be making reference to the kicks donned by head coach Lonny Drayton. Sporting some brilliant purple and gold Air Jordans on occasion, the leader of the Lady Dogs has defined styling with his footwear.

In reality, as Smyrna finishes district tournament play and prepares for Region tourney action, those that have watched the Lady Bulldogs know the truth. Much like Mike, this is about hard work, dedication, and commitment. And yes, that includes Coach Drayton and those jubilant Jordans.
