(MURFREESBORO) The Tennessee Philharmonic Orchestra will honor retiring Concert Master Stefan Petrescu with a public recital this Saturday afternoon at 4:00 o’clock at First Presbyterian Church, corner of College and Spring Streets.

TPO's CEO Jane McNulty noted, "Stefan has shared his talents and given his love to this community for over 34-years. This is a great way to let him know that we appreciate all that he has done."

Petrescu was on a second tour in the US with the Romanian Symphony, when he decided to risk it all and defect to the United States in 1989. Stefan and his family settled in Murfreesboro where he soon joined the local symphony.

Philharmonic Board Chair Ray Singer said, “Stefan Petrescu is retiring and moving to Florida at the conclusion of this season. However, he is generously offering a community recital prior to his departure.”

The free recital at First Presbyterian is the concert master’s way of saying thank you for such a memorable orchestral experience.

Again, the final event for the TPO'S retiring concert master is this Saturday afternoon in the sanctuary of First Presbyterian Church.
