Sherry McCreery Roberts Passes Away

The wife of former WGNS personality and WMTS-AM owner John McCreery, Sherry McCreery Roberts, has passed away at the age of 82. Their son, John was an educator and football coach for many years here in Rutherford County before moving to Webb School in Bell Buckle.

Sherry and her late husband John purchased WMTS-AM after the passing of Monte Hale, Sr. and operated the station until the early 90's. They also operated Murfreesboro's first UHF television station.

Sherry is survived by her husband Doug Roberts, who also spent several years in radio with some of those years behind the microphone at the Good Neighbor Station. 

In addition to her husband Doug and her son John, she is also survived by sons Robert McCreery of Williamsburg, VA, and step-son Bob Roberts of Nashville, TN; brother, Forest ‘Ross’ Escue Jr and sister Rosalyn Green. See the complete obituary here

Services for Sherry will be held at Jennings & Ayers Funeral Home. Visitation Wednesday from 4-7pm and Thursday 9am until service time at 10:30am.
