A powerful storm system pushed through Tennessee and the South Friday (3-24-23) leaving behind damage. While Rutherford County was spared the worst of the storm damage, there was some in Smyrna.

A light pole on the visitor side at Robert L. Raikes Football Stadium at Smyrna High School was knocked down during the high winds. Several cars at the adjacent apartment complex were heavily damaged. Thankfully, there were no injuries.

Other areas across the county saw some limbs down but no major damage. There is scattered damage across the Volunteer State. In neighboring Mississippi, over 20-people were killed when a long track tornado was on the ground for nearly 100 miles.
