MTSU Graduation Friday and Saturday

(MURFREESBORO) 2,656 new Blue Raider alumni will be created during this weekend's MTSU commencement inside Murphy Center (2650 Middle TN Blvd.).

There are so many students that four separate graduation programs are needed this year. Each ceremony is expected to last about two hours. MTSU President Sidney A. McPhee also will briefly address each group of graduates. 


When spring 2023 commencement is complete, MTSU will have reached a new milestone: more than 180,700 degrees conferred since its 1911 founding. 

Guest speakers are:

  • 1:30PM Friday afternoon (5/5/2023) ceremony with degree presentations to students from the College of Basic and Applied Sciences and remarks from longtime Murfreesboro banker, community leader and 1982 MTSU business alumnus Bill Jones.
  • 6:00PM Friday evening (5/5/2023) ceremony with degrees for the College of Liberal Arts and College of Media and Entertainment students, with Nashville TV producer and entrepreneur Nic Dugger (2000 MTSU mass communication alumni) as the speaker.
  • 9:00AM Saturday morning (5/6/2023) Diplomas for graduates in the Jennings A. Jones College of Business and the University College, who’ll be addressed by Matt Crews, founder and CEO of the Big Machine Music City Grand Prix and a 1991 MTSU business management alumnus.
  • 1:30PM Saturday afternoon (5/6/2023) Graduation for College of Behavioral and Health Sciences and College of Education graduates with comments from 1973 MTSU psychology alumna Pamela Wright, a Nashville entrepreneur, philanthropist and member of the MTSU Board of Trustees.

Each ceremony also will be streamed live online at and at and broadcast on MTSU's True Blue TV on Murfreesboro cable Channel 9. The closed-captioned streaming feed will begin 15 minutes before each event.
