(MURFREESBORO)  As we approach Mother's Day weekend, there are plenty of activities mom will enjoy here in Rutherford County. To make it visually clearer for you, we're listing the top activities as "bullet points". 

  • Friday (May 12, 2023) 7AM-noon Rutherford County FARMERS MARKET at the Lane Agri-Park (315 John R. Rice Blvd.). The market offers only locally produced seasonal fruits and vegetables, meats, eggs, baked and canned goods, flowers, plants and more. Admission is FREE. 
  • Fri-Sat (May 12-13, 2023) 9th Annual 'Boro BBQ Festival at Oaklands Mansion (900 N. Maney Ave.). The top cookers in Middle Tennessee compete in the KCBS (Kansas City Barbecue Society) sanctioned event including the highly competitive Dr. George Smith BBQ Brawl.
  • Sat. (May 13, 2023) 8AM-Noon Saturday Market on the Murfreesboro square around the historic Rutherford County courthouse. This weekly warm-weather event is presented by Main Street Murfreesboro. It's a gathering place for our extended community and a great way to showcase the historic business district.
  • Sat. (May 13, 2023)9AM-Noon COFFEE & CONVERSATION at the historic one-room Ransom School House (717 N. Academy Street). Bring old photos or questions about the past to ask members of the Rutherford County Historical Society. FREE coffee and donuts too--it's all free!
  • Sat. (May 13, 2023) 9-11AM ANNUAL PLANT SWAP sponsored by the Rutherford County Master Gardeners in the Community Center at the Lane Agri-Park (315 John R. Rice Blvd.). This is FREE and open to the public. For more details, phone 615-898-7710.

  • Sat. (May 13, 2023) 3:00PM Middle Tennessee Sinfonietta is in concert at MTSU's Wright Music Building (1439 Faulkinberry Dr.). This FREE concert features Dvorak's Symphony No. 9 and the world premiere of the three Middle Tennessee Sinfonietta's 2023 composition competition winners.
  • Monday (May 15, 2023) 7:00PM RUTHERFORD COUNTY HISTORICAL SOCIETY meets in Maney Hall at Oaklands Mansion (900 N. Maney Ave.) Special guests are the Cripple Creek Cloggers celebrating their 56th anniversary. Founder Steve Cates will share the history of these worldwide ambassadors. This event is free and open to the public so invite a friend!
