Rutherford County School Board to Consider Clear Bag Policy for Extracurricular Activities

The Rutherford County School Board is set to vote Thursday on a clear bag policy for those who go to extracurricular events like games and school plays.

The reason for considering this policy change is to strengthen the admission process in response to The Covenant School shooting in Nashville. It would require clear bags for those entering schools for events, much like college and professional sports require currently. For instance, Middle Tennessee State University has a clear bag policy.

If the policy change passed, it would go into effect starting the next school year in August.
