RCSO: Friday Night Road Rage Shooting On I-24

(SMYRNA, TN)  No one was injured when a driver allegedly fired rounds into another driver’s truck in an apparent road rage Friday 5/19/2023) evening on Interstate 24, a Rutherford County Sheriff’s corporal said.

32-year old suspect Depizio Seay of Nashville was charged with aggravated assault, reckless endangerment and possession of marijuana, said Cpl. William Travis, who arrested him.

“Driving on I-24, Seay reportedly fired at least two rounds out of his passenger window,” Travis said. “He hit the victim’s truck. The victim chased him down and called 911 and held him at gunpoint.”

Sheriff’s Office deputies, Smyrna and La Vergne Police and the Tennessee Highway Patrol responded to the call.

The victim and suspect were found at a restaurant on Sam Ridley Parkway in Smyrna. The victim is a 40-year-old man from White Bluff.

Seay is being held at Rutherford County Adult Detention Center. A hearing on the charges is set Aug. 23, 2023 in General Sessions Court.

Seay is also wanted as a fugitive from justice in Illinois, the corporal said.
