(MURFREESBORO) Around 9:20PM this past Friday night (5/19/2023) a 2010 Toyota 4-door car and a Greyhound bus were getting off Old Fort Parkway and traveling onto the two-lane entrance ramp to I-24 (westbound, toward Nashville). While merging, the Toyota hit the rear of the bus and traveled off the roadway and crashed.
Rutherford County Emergency Medical Services treated 18-year-old Kareem Ghobrial at the scene, and then rushed him to the ER at Ascension St. Thomas Rutherford Hospital. He later died from those injuries.
In the Highway Patrol’s crash report, there were 34 passengers on the Greyhound, and one was taken to the hospital with minor injuries.
56-year-old Mark Johnson of Georgia was driving the Greyhound bus.
Both the bus driver and Kareem Ghobrial were wearing seat belts.
Again, 18-year-old Kareem Ghobrial was killed Friday night while attempting to merge with a bus on the exit ramp (mile marker 78).
