Dr. Mark Akins, a local surgeon, is this month's HEART FOR HEALING honoree. A listener writes, "I was in excruciating pain. From my first meeting with Dr. Akins, I was impressed with his focus on easing my pain and getting me on the road to recovery. He told me that the da Vinci surgical robot at the hospital was booked into the future. Dr. Akins knew I was in pain, and he asked the other surgeons to let him know if they had any cancellations; he would take that opening--even if it was on his day off. It turned out that my surgery was more challenging than anticipated, and Dr. Akins saw me through this difficult time."  Dr. Mark Akins is dedicated to healing and receives dinner for two at the fabulous Alley On Main Street restaurant.
