(MURFREESBORO) Are you familiar with ADVENTURES IN LEARNING? Interesting classes are featured only on 3 Mondays (Sept. 11, 18 and 25, 2023) at 9:30AM and also at 10:45AM for the community's senior population. Lunch is provided at noon for those who wish to attend ($12 fee for lunch).  This will be at First United Methodist Church, 265 W. Thompson Lane, although the planning committee represents 12 local congregations.

MORNING SESSIONS

MONDAY, SEPT. 11, 2023  Everyone goes to the same morning class that day. Pick-up your name badget between 8:30-9:00AM (9/11) and go into the sanctuary for a general assembly and orientation. The subject transitions into REMEMBERING 9/11. The guest speakers are Col. Tom Hickerson, retired USAF. He was working at the Pentagon on 9/11/2001. Big Aple resident Anthony Yanis was living in New York City and he will share what he witnessed.  

The early session (9:30-10:30AM) on Sept. 18 and 25 deal with (1) TOURISM IN RUTHERFORD COUNTY, (2) RUTHERFORD COUNTY HISTORY, and (3) Apple iPhone and iPad.

• Stones River National Battlefield is the #1 tourist attraction. Supt. Jim Davis tells about "The Three Battles of Murfreesboro" (Sept. 18, 9:30-10:30AM)
• Rutherford County Planning Commission Chair and Trustee at Sam Davis Home Pettus Reed will be dressed in character as Charles, Sam Davis' father. (Sept. 18, 9:30-10:30AM)
• Chamber of Commerce' Susan Gulley, who is also Arts Alliance president, shows how art benefits tourism as well as local residents. (Sept. 25, 9:30-10:30AM)
• County Archivist Jon Lodl tells how he preserves the history of Rutherford County, including legal documants to genealogy. (Sept. 25, 9:30-10:30AM)

Registration is $16 and is due on or before Thursday, Aug. 24, 2023. Lunch is $12 extra per meal.

If you miss the filing deadline, then classes are available on a first-available basis with a late fee of $18. Late applications and fees are accepted only on the first day of classes.  Bring your completed form and fees.
