The Murfreesboro Police Department recently purchased four Harley-Davidson Electra Glide Police Motorcycles. The motorcycles came with a new design, moving away from solid white to a white and blue combination. The motorcycles were equipped and assigned to individual officers of the Motorcycle Unit. The funding for the motorcycles came from the 2012 Justice Assistance Grant, Risk Management fund, trade-in value of five older motorcycles removed from service, and the remaining balance coming from the Additions to Fixed Assets account.
The main focus of the Motorcycle Unit is to reduce traffic crashes by enforcing traffic laws throughout the City and especially in areas with high traffic volume and crash rates.
