MURFREESBORO, TN - Murfreesboro Fire-Rescue answered a call regarding a house fire at 4:29PM Wednesday afternoon. First units on-the-scene at the Ballater Drive address reported flames jettisoning out of the side attic vents. Ballater Drive is off of Wellington Place in the Cason Lane area.
The responding crews searched the structure visually and electronically to make certain that no one was in the inferno. Thankfully, no one was inside and no injuries among residents or firefighters were reported. Despite the heavy flames and smoke, firefighters were able to extinguish the blaze quickly.
Damage was significant and the Heart of Tennessee chapter of the American Red Cross was called to the house. WGNS was told the Red Cross worked to help the residents relocate / find temporary housing as needed.
At this point, the cause of the fire remains under investigation.

Special thanks to Murfreesboro Fire-Rescue's District 9, District 10, district 11, Rescue 1, Ladder 4, Safety 1 & 2, Battalion Chiefs 1 & 2, and other Command Staff who responded to the fire. Also, officers from Murfreesboro Police as well as paramedics from Rutherford County Emergency Medical Services were at the blaze in case help was needed.
