(MURFREESBORO)  The City of Murfreesboro wants to know the future curbside trash collection service needs of commercial enterprises inside the City limits.

“The survey is an attempt to quantify the tonnage of garbage generated by the City’s commercial customers that are not currently being collected by the Murfreesboro Solid Waste Department,” said Assistant City Manager Darren Gore. “This information will be useful to determine how much commercial trash could be delivered to a future transfer station or processing facility on Butler Drive.”

The City encourages Murfreesboro businesses who receive the survey in the mail to utilize the QR Code and fill out the quick, 2-minute questionnaire. Those unfamiliar with QR Codes should simply open your smartphone camera app, focus the camera on the QR Code and gently tap to access arcgis.com for the quick survey.

The simple survey consists mainly of the size and number of receptables the commercial enterprise uses along with the number of collections per week and estimated percentage of food waste generated. Restaurants generate larger amounts of food waste that can be helpful in the anaerobic digestor for potential biogas production.

The City mailed the 5x7 postcard to approximately 1,880 commercial establishments not currently served as customers of the Murfreesboro Solid Waste Department. Murfreesboro currently serves approximately 2,400 commercial customers with 96-gallon carts.

ArcGIS Surveys are used to accelerate data collection and enhance the quality of results. ArcGIS analyzes information with a geographic lens to better understand where and why things occur.
