RUTHERFORD COUNTY, TN - An investigation into a child being sexually assaulted 5-years ago led to a Nashville resident being convicted in a Rutherford County courtroom.

After allegations involving the rape of a child who was under the age of 13 were made in LaVergne, Detective Steve Crotts with the LaVergne Police Department worked with multiple officers and various agencies to present evidence from the case to a Rutherford County Grand Jury. As a result of the detectives work, a sealed indictment naming Louis Mendoza-Sanchez was handed down and Mendoza-Sanchez was apprehended... That was Rutherford County District Attorney Jennings Jones.

Two years after Mendoza-Sanchez was arrested, the case went to trial... The 46-year-old will be over 100-years-old when his prison sentence ends... Mendoza-Sanchez was sentenced by Rutherford County Circuit Court Judge James Turner.

Mendoza-Sanchez , who raped the victim in 2018, will remain behind bars until 2079, according to the department of corrections. He is now listed on the Tennessee Sex Offender Registry as being “Violent Against Children.”
