The Rutherford County Sheriffs Office SRO's help underserved students at Christmas. Sgt. Dustn Cox and SRO Summer Higgins tell about one of the early SRO programs in the nation. Rutherford County Sheriffs' SRO program has served this community for 30-years. As a coordinator, Dustin covers several schools, and Summer is stationed at Rocky Fork Elementary School in Smyrna, TN.
During the Christmas season, the SRO program helps underserved students, and in some cases break the cycle and become successful adults.
- Dec. 5, 2023 5-8PM the SRO's will be helping at the three Toot's locations in Murfreesboro. The donations from the public fund the SHOP WITH THE SHERIFF program.
- Dec. 9, 2023 6-10AM the SHOP WITH THE SHERIFF program at a local Walmart. The store is closed to the public while the students and their SRO have a ball selecting Christmas gifts and having fun.
