MURFREESBORO) The Rutherford County Sheriffs Office warns the public about a scam that has caught several unsuspecting citizens.
RCSO Public Information Officer Lisa Marchesoni said, "Beware of scammers posing as Sgt. Herron. Scammers are calling residents posing as Sheriff’s Sgt. Gary Herron. The callers leave a message about an “urgent legal matter” and give a phone number to call.
Sgt. Herron is not making these calls."
She stressed that the Sheriff’s Office deputies do not call residents about “urgent legal matters.”
If you receive this call, simply hang up and do not respond.
