UPDATED: In a somber update on the November 14, 2023 shooting that claimed the life of a 34-year-old Murfreesboro man in Nashville, Metro Police continue to actively pursue leads tin an attempt to unravel the circumstances surrounding the incident. Although it remains unclear where the shooting occurred, Joshua White was driving a yellow Hyundai Veloster when he pulled into the parking lot of a BP gas station in South Nashville (Old Hickory Boulevard at Eulala Drive) where he informed a passerby that he had been shot. After telling the bystander about his injury, he collapsed on the ground. Despite being rushed to Vanderbilt University Medical Center, he succumbed to his injuries.

White, who once called Smyrna home and later moved to Murfreesboro, volunteered with the Lascassas and Walter Hill Volunteer Fire Departments. The local resident was married to Taryne White and the couple had two children. Sadly, this month Mr. White would have turned 35.

As the investigation unfolds, authorities are seeking the community's assistance in providing information that could aid in bringing clarity to the events leading to Joshua White's death. The police continue to urge anyone with information about the fatal shooting to come forward with whatever details they may have. Metro detectives also ask that anyone who may have spotted the yellow Veloster, which displayed front-end damage and a bullet hole in the windshield, to contact Nashville Crime Stoppers at 615-742-7463. Callers can remain anonymous and may qualify for a $5,000 cash reward in homicide cases such as this one. The collaboration between law enforcement and the community is pivotal in piecing together the puzzle and ensuring justice for Joshua White and his grieving loved ones.
