Happy 34th Anniversary Demos' Family!

(MURFREESBORO) It was 34-years ago that Jim and Doris Demos opened the legendary Demos’ Steak and Spaghetti House at 1115 NW Broad Street. Over the years the eatery’s name has been simplified to Demos’. Now they also are located in Lebanon and Hendersonville.

Jim loved the restaurant business and at age 9 he was working at his family’s restaurant in Birmingham.

Later he worked as manager of a Bristol movie theatre, but still had the love for the restaurant business.

In 1972 he purchased the middle Tennessee franchise for Western Sizzlin’.  He successfully owned eight of them, but in 1989 Jim and Doris wanted to create their own concept.

Peter joined the family business as a dishwasher at the age of 12.

Sadly, Doris passed away suddenly in 2009, but her staff training for quality control remains today.

Now, Peter has purchased the family business from his dad, but he learned well from his dad.

In fact, Peter was recently on WGNS telling about his new books, and said, “We don’t sell food here, we sell how people feel when they leave Demos’ Restaurant—we sell the total experience.”

I thought for a while, that Jim Demos was on the radio.

Peter graduated from law school and passed the bar exam, but after a short time missed the restaurant business. Like his dad, Peter too decided to create his own concept, and PDK, a fast, southern food, casual eatery is located in Nashville, Bellevue and Mt. Juliet.

On this special anniversary, Peter commented, “What a blessing you have been to our family business, Murfreesboro! From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for your love for the last 34 years… and cheers to many more!”

Happy 34th anniversary to the entire Demos’ family, and thank you for the delicious food over the decades.
