Oakland high school swimming has been a shining light for Rutherford County aquatics for quite some time. This season has been no different as the Patriots are once again the pride of the pool.

Past success placed Oakland in select company in Division 7A this season. On December 16, the Patriots traveled to Williamson County and secured the Division title with a beat down of Brentwood Academy. In taking first place in 16 of the 22 events, the Patriots left little doubt as to where the dominance in the Division resides. Previous wins against Father Ryan, Green Hill, and Franklin allowed Oakland to claim the combined team and boy’s title with unblemished records.

“To be able to win this Division in just our second year competing against these types of schools is something all of our kids should be proud of”, says Oakland head coach Drew Brewer. “Winning it on the road in the fashion we did makes it even sweeter. A mix of young talent and senior leadership was critical in getting the job done. Every single time out our swimmers have answered the call.”

Oakland features a roster with five senior girls and only one senior boy. The Patriots will host the Rutherford County swimming championships on January 20 and compete in the Region and State swim meets as the calendar turns to 2024.
