MURFREESBORO, TENN  - In a heated sequence of events on Tuesday, Murfreesboro faced not one but two separate fires in less than an hour of each other. The first incident unfolded at a Debonair Lane town-home around 1:54 p.m., where two individuals narrowly escaped a raging blaze. Debonair Lane is in the area of St. Andrews Drive and Cason Trail. Despite the swift response from firefighters, the rear of the home sustained severe damage. To highlight the positive part of this story, no injuries were reported in this close call.

A second fire broke out just 57-minutes later at the Mercury Manor Condominiums on Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard. Responding promptly, the Murfreesboro Fire & Rescue Department encountered smoke billowing from the affected unit. Thankfully, it was confirmed that no one was inside during the incident. Regrettably, due to substantial smoke damage, the condominium is now deemed uninhabitable.

Both incidents are under thorough investigation by the Murfreesboro Fire Marshal’s Office to determine the causes of these alarming fires. The community remains grateful for the firefighters' quick actions, ensuring the safety of residents and preventing further escalation of these events. Keep in mind, both fires occurred in multi-family properties, so the outcome could have been much more catastrophic.

  • Fire Crews that Responded to Debonair Lane Fire include: Fire crews with Ladder 4, Ladder 11, Engine 9, Engine 10, Rescue 11, Safety 1 & 2, Battalion Chiefs 1 & and 2 assisted with the fire.

  • Fire Crews that Responded to Mercury Manor fire include: Fire crews with Engine 3, Ladders 1, 2, 6, and 8, Rescue 1, Battalion Chief 1, and Safety 2 assisted with the fire.
