Murfreesboro, TN – A mother and her two children escaped unharmed from a house fire that broke out in the early morning hours on Teresa Lane today, Friday, December 29. The incident occurred at approximately 5:50 a.m. when flames were first spotted on the right side of the home, quickly spreading to the interior attic area.

Upon the arrival of Murfreesboro Fire Rescue Department (MFRD) firefighters, efforts were focused on controlling the blaze. Water was applied to the exterior to contain the fire, which had already made significant headway.

Fire crews, comprising Ladder 11, Ladder 1, Engine 9, Engine 10, Rescue 11, Battalion Chiefs 1 & 2, and Safety 1 & 2, worked diligently to ensure the safety of the residents and to prevent further damage. Fortunately, the mother and her two children had already evacuated the premises before the arrival of emergency responders. The father was reportedly not at home during the incident.

The MFRD Fire Marshal’s Office has initiated an investigation into the cause of the fire to determine the origin and circumstances surrounding the incident. The Heart of Tennessee Chapter of the American Red Cross is offering assistance to the affected family.

As the investigation unfolds, the community is reminded of the importance of fire safety measures and the critical role played by first responders in safeguarding lives and property. Authorities are urging residents to remain vigilant and adhere to safety guidelines, especially during the holiday season when fire risks may be elevated.
