RUTHERFORD COUNTY, TN - After a 2-year wait... That was Rutherford County Library Director Rita Shacklett, talking about the brand-new and much anticipated Bookmobile that arrived on Tuesday.

Around 2-years ago, bookmobile staff and library board members identified a long list of necessary repairs to the old bookmobile. After adding up the cost of fixing the vehicle, the decision was made to retire the old bookmobile and order a new one.

Officials with the Rutherford County Library System placed their order for a new mobile library in the midst of the COVID-19 Pandemic. During that time, businesses tied to the automotive industry were faced with major slowdowns because manufacturers lacked parts...

Rutherford County Library staff that oversee the bookmobile, played a sizable role in outfitting the new vehicle with technology and more...

Again, the Rutherford County Library System received the new bookmobile early Tuesday morning. It will hit the road in the next few weeks, with planned stops at parks, senior living facilities and more.
