The incident occurred around 8:45 PM, prompting a swift response from State Troopers who rushed to the scene to determine the cause of the collision. The Rutherford County Sheriff's Office assisted in managing traffic and securing the area as motorists approached the scene of the devastating wreck.

According to the Tennessee Highway Patrol (THP), the collision involved a 2002 Chevrolet Tahoe driven by 51-year-old Miguel Medina Isaac of LaVergne. Mr. Isaac, traveling northbound on Lebanon Highway, attempted to pass a vehicle in front of him by veering into the southbound lane. However, in a tragic turn of events, his SUV collided head-on with an oncoming Toyota Corolla.

The impact of the collision proved fatal for the driver of the Toyota Corolla, identified as 51-year-old Maria Valadez. The force of the crash caused Mr. Isaac's Tahoe to overturn, coming to a rest in the southbound lane, while the roadway had to be closed for an extended period to facilitate the thorough investigation by Troopers.

Preliminary findings from the Tennessee Highway Patrol suggest that Mr. Isaac's maneuver to overtake the vehicle ahead of him led to the catastrophic collision, resulting in the loss of Mrs. Valadez's life.

Mrs. Maria Valadez, a beloved member of the community residing in Shelbyville, TN, tragically lost her life in the accident. Described as cherished by all who knew her, Mrs. Valadez was an active member of St. William's Catholic Church in Bedford County.

As the community grapples with the loss of Mrs. Valadez, funeral arrangements are yet to be announced, leaving friends and family mourning her untimely passing.

The location of the accident, situated near the VA Medical Center, has left a somber reminder of the dangers posed by reckless driving and the importance of exercising caution on the roads.

As authorities continue their investigation into the circumstances surrounding the collision, the memory of Maria Valadez serves as a poignant reminder of the need for vigilance and safety behind the wheel.
