Murfreesboro resident Dave Davis started the KBD foundation in honor of his wife who died in 2009. KBD stands for Kathy B. Davis. The mission of the nonprofit is to support and create life enhancing opportunities for individuals with special challenges. Davis told WGNS he started the foundation to carry on his late wife’s’ passion of helping special needs children.  

On May 11th, the KBD Foundation will hold a fundraising golf tournament where $100,000 will be given away in a hole in one shootout. To learn more about the foundation or to be a part of the golf event, visit KBDFoundation.net.

More About the KBD Foundation:

Kathy was a devoted mother of three children, one of whom is mentally challenged. She was a very caring person, mother, and loving wife, always placing the needs of other's above her own. She was an inspiration to her family, her friends, and the many coworkers that knew her.

Kathy was always volunteering to raise funds for an assortment of nonprofit organizations or donating funds to those organizations she was so touched to help. Even as she was struggling with her illness, A few days prior to her death, Kathy was preparing to go to court as a Child Advocate. 

This organization is dedicated to the pursuit of helping others in need, as she had done throughout her life. Within this website, you will see the many wonderful programs and activities the Foundation supports along with its dreams and hope for the future.

Five years ago, Dave Davis, along with two other individuals, Tricia Lacy and Sonya Craig helped cofound Life Enrichment And Recreation Network, an extremely successful organization that organized year round activities for youths and adults with Special Needs and their families. From Arts & Crafts to Dance Classes to Job Skills Training to year round Sports Programs, we began Creating Opportunities for our adult children that were just not readily available in the public sector. The dream of the foundation is to create a center, in honor of Kathy B. Davis.
