Murfreesboro, TN – Local Perform Murfreesboro homeschool student Mac Wright (16-years-old) has a lot to celebrate as he was named to the Tennessee Music Education Association Modern Band for first time ever.

The second annual event will be on March 21st through 23rd and held at Battle Ground Academy. Angela Beale, Music Director of Perform Murfreesboro and TMEA teacher shared, “This is a time for talented musicians to be showcased in a high-quality performance with incredible modern music. And unlike choirs with hundreds of students – only 12 students were chosen.”

Of the 12 students chosen, only one was chosen from Rutherford County. “I am so excited about this live performance. It’s very different with modern versus classical,” Mac Wright stated. “I really like the buildup of rehearsals; it’s thrilling to me. I am actually relaxed when performing.”

Mac Wright has been involved in performing since he was 3 years old and has been with Perform Murfreesboro for as long as he can remember. Perform Murfreesboro is operated under Cultural Arts, which is a division of Murfreesboro Parks and Recreation. See all band members HERE.
