Eclipse in 2017

Rutherford County, TN - The Rutherford County Schools are considering a closure on Monday, April 8, 2024 - - for the sun... Schools Director Dr. Jimmy Sullivan explains...Again, Monday, April 8 is the date of the eclipse this year, with a partial eclipse beginning in the lunch hour at about 12:30. The total eclipse will likely occur between 1:58 and 2 PM on the 8th of next month.

The last time a total eclipse occurred in North America was in 2017. Perhaps adding interest to this year's eclipse, is the moon itself, which will be closer to the Earth, making it appear larger. This will also increase the length of time it remains dark during the eclipse.
