(MURFREESBORO) I-24 eastbound (toward Chattanooga) was shutdown shortly after 5:00 o'clock Sunday morning (3/17/2024) due to a fatal 4 vehicle crash at mile marker 81 (Shelbyville highway exit). The interstate was reopened almost 5-hours later.
Sgt. Shawn Boyd with the THP told WGNS news that the fatal crash occurred at 5:07AM.
The Highway Patrol is conducting a thorough investigation into the tragic incident and will not be able to release information until the deceased person's next of kin have been notified along with the completion of the preliminary report.
