(MURFREESBORO) 17-year-old pianist John Baron Schott will offer a free performance at 2:00 o’clock this coming Tuesday (3/19/2024) afternoon in the sanctuary at Murfreesboro First Presbyterian Church (corner of College and Spring Streets). The public is encouraged to attend this free event.

The Murfreesboro native is the recipient of Murfreesboro Symphony Orchestra Guild’s (MSOG) 2023-24 Scholarship.

"J.B." developed a love for music at an early. In fact, he started taking piano lessons at age 6. He was known for being able to hear how something should sound and produce it in his playing. Schott loved the romantic period early on, specifically Chopin and Rachmaninoff.

The Murfreesboro teen has performed several recitals and has earned multiple superior ratings in local competitions. In 2023, he was invited to study in Todi, Italy at the Todi International Music Masters Piano Festival under Antonio Pompa-Baldi, world renown concert pianist and piano professor where he was one of only 38 pianists invited from all over the globe.

In addition to studying piano, J.B. studies music theory and composition and has written multiple orchestral pieces with plans of writing many more. His teachers include Angela (Bowles) Duggar, Sharon Stanczak, Dr. Graciella Kowalczyk and Dr. Ashot Aryian.

Again, the public is invited to hear and meet the symphony guild’s scholarship recipient, John Baron Schott, at 2:00 o’clock this coming Tuesday afternoon in the sanctuary at Murfreesboro’s First Presbyterian Church, 210 N. Spring Street.
