(RUTHERFORD COUNTY, TN) Robert Brooks, candidate for Rutherford County School Board Zone 2, strongly opposes the proposed policy to limit parents and the public from addressing the board solely to agenda items during school board meetings.
As a lifelong advocate for open dialogue and community engagement, Brooks believes that all voices deserve to be heard in discussions affecting our schools. Restricting public input to only agenda items would undermine transparency and accountability within our school district.
"It is essential that our school board remains accessible to all members of the community," said Brooks. "By limiting public input, we risk silencing the voices of parents, educators, and taxpayers who have valuable insights and concerns that may not be included in the agenda."
Brooks is committed to promoting and fostering meaningful dialogue between the school board and the community. He believes that every member of the public should have the opportunity to address the board on issues relevant to the success and well-being of our schools.
"I urge the school board to reconsider this proposal and instead adopt policies that prioritize open communication and engagement with the community," Brooks added. "As a school board member, I will always prioritize the needs and concerns of our students, and parents."
Robert Brooks is running for Rutherford County School Board Zone 2 with a vision of promoting excellence, equity, and innovation in education. He invites members of the community to join him in opposing the proposed policy and advocating for a more inclusive and transparent school board.
