The March Madness dance for the Lady Raiders began last Wednesday in Huntsville, Alabama’s Propst Arena at the Von Braun Center. Middle Tennessee women's basketball battled through cold shooting in the first half to come alive in the second, scoring the nets for 48 points in the final 20 minutes to blast past UTEP (University of Texas at El Paso) 78-50 on Wednesday afternoon at Propst Arena at the Von Braun Center.
Local Blue Raider supporters will continue to follow the play-by-play radio coverage on MTSU’s radio network’s flagship station WGNS (101.9 FM, 100.5 FM and AM 1450).
The next round of the dance for the Lady Raiders was Friday (3/22/2024). MTSU took it on the chin early, but showed resiliency in the Pete Maravich Assembly Center coming from 18-points down to defeat Louisville 71-69 in the first round of the 2024 NCAA Women's Basketball Tournament. The win is MTSU's first in the tournament since 2007.
Lady Raiders Head Coach Rick Insell said, "It came down to guts and willpower, who was going to will themselves to victory. I'm awfully proud of our young ladies."
The Lady Raiders have lifted the school spirit for students, alumni and fans.
