Gas and Diesel Prices Down to Start This Week

RUTHERFORD COUNTY, TN - Average gasoline prices in Tennessee have fallen 5.9 cents per gallon in the last week, averaging $3.21/g today, according to GasBuddy's survey of 3,821 stations in Tennessee. Prices in Tennessee are 3.6 cents per gallon higher than a month ago and stand 9.8 cents per gallon lower than a year ago. The national average price of diesel has decreased 0.4 cents in the last week and stands at $4.01 per gallon.

In Rutherford County, the average price at the pump for regular unleaded fuel is $3.14 per gallon, which is down by .15-cents when compared to last Monday (April 15, 2024). When looking at gas prices across Tennessee's 95-counties, prices in the Murfreesboro / Smyrna area are some of the lowest in the state, according to AAA – the Auto Club. As for the highest priced county - - it is west of the Rutherford County line in the Franklin / Brentwood area, where motorist will find the cost of fuel is hitting an average price of $3.60 per gallon (regular unleaded). Nearby Music City prices in Nashville are $3.28 per gallon. But if you want the cheapest price at the pump, you should head south of the 'Boro and into the Shelbyville area, where prices are averaging $3.07 per gallon throughout Bedford County.


The national average price of gasoline has risen 4.3 cents per gallon in the last week, averaging $3.64/g today. The national average is up 10.8 cents per gallon from a month ago and stands 1.1 cents per gallon lower than a year ago, according to GasBuddy data compiled from more than 11 million weekly price reports covering over 150,000 gas stations across the country.

The price of diesel is .2-cents cheaper today (04/22/24) than yesterday's price and 4-cents cheaper than last Monday's average of $3.83 per gallon. On this day one year ago, diesel prices were $3.91 per gallon, which .12-cents higher than Monday's average.
