Rutherford County, TN - A 4th-grade teacher in the Rutherford County School system is facing charges in a case dating back to 2022. Rutherford County Detective Will Pinson filed charges of stalking against LaVergne Lake Elementary educator Ashley Restrepo last year and the case moved forward from there.

Allegedly, the stalking incident that lists one male victim, took place in November of 2022, with a criminal warrant issued seven months later. Subsequently, the case was bound over to a Rutherford County Grand Jury, resulting in the transfer of the criminal case to the Circuit Courts. Specific details regarding the allegations have not been disclosed.

In addition to the stalking charge, Restrepo faces three counts of filing false reports to an officer. According to court documents, these false report violations occurred in April of 2022, coinciding with the same year of the alleged stalking incident, but 7-months apart. Each count of filing a false report to an officer is classified as a class D felony, while the stalking charge is considered a misdemeanor.

WGNS reached out to the county schools Chief Communications Officer, James Evans, for comment. Evans stated, 'The employee notified us of the charges, which do not involve any allegations that are work-related. We are monitoring the case as it progresses through the judicial process.'

The alleged violations of filing false reports to an officer occurred eight months after Restrepo was hired by the county schools in August of 2021.

A plea hearing in the Circuit Courtroom of Judge Barry Tidwell is scheduled for May 23, 2024 at 9 AM.
