Murfreesboro, TN - The Area 16 Special Olympics Spring Games will be held Monday, May 6th and Tuesday, May 7th at the Dean A. Hayes Track and Soccer Stadium at MTSU. Athletes always do better when the stadium is full. Organizers are encouraging the public to attend these games at MTSU. The stadium is at the end of the Greenland Drive Parking lot.

Athletic Programs Coordinator Michael McCafferty said, "We need to fill the bleachers and cheer on the special athletes."

The parade of athletes with their schools will begin at 9:45 am and track and field events start at 10 am. This incredible showcase of special athletes includes Elementary and Middle School students on Monday, and Tuesday will be the High School students and Adults.

McCafferty coninued. “We are looking for “Fans in the Stands” this year. It is our goal to have the stands filled with people cheering for our athletes. It means a lot to them and is just an incredible experience for everyone involved.”

Once the events are finished, there will be an award ceremony where the athletes receive their medals. The day's activities are expected to be over by 1 pm each day, as the athletes need to return to school.
