Murfreesboro, TN – UPDATED: A 38-year-old man accused of throwing a Molotov cocktail at his neighbor’s home, assaulting two other neighbors, and barricading himself inside his house for hours now faces additional charges, according to Murfreesboro Police on Tuesday.

Overnight, officers issued multiple warrants for Domonique Merriweather. In addition to felony reckless endangerment, Merriweather is charged with aggravated assault, coercion of a witness, possession of prohibited weapons (explosive device), and two counts of assault.

Police told WGNS on Monday night that Mr. Merriweather was involved in a tense standoff that concluded peacefully after the MPD Special Operations Unit deployed tear gas, ultimately leading to Merriweather’s surrender. During the incident, responding officers discovered a package wrapped in duct tape on the front porch of the home, prompting them to retreat as a safety precaution.

After nearly four hours and teargas being deployed, Merriweather exited the house with his hands raised shortly before 8 p.m. on Monday night and was arrested... As of Tuesday afternoon, he remains in the Rutherford County Adult Detention Center on a $210,000 bond. A hearing is set for June 25, 2024, in Rutherford County General Sessions Court.

On the day of the standoff (May 20, 2024), Merriweather was supposed to be in court to face charges of assault - threat of bodily injury. However, court documents showed that he failed to appear before Judge Ben Bennett as scheduled on Monday. The charge he was facing stemmed from an incident that allegedly occurred last month on April 13, 2024.

The apprehension on Monday night involved a number of units within the MPD and other departments to include the MPD Special Operations Unit, the MPD Unmanned Aircraft Systems Team (drone operations), the Tennessee Highway Patrol Bomb Squad, the THP Robot Team, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF), and the Murfreesboro Fire Rescue Department.
