Murfreesboro, TN - NOW is last chance to walk the Exchange Club's "Flags of Remembrance, Healing Field". Do not let this Memorial Day pass without walking through the field of 400+ American flags. This is a free service to the community from the Rutherford County Exchange Club and the CLOSING CEREMONY is at 6:00PM tonight (5/27/2024).
This is the 15th annual HEALING FIELD that the local Exchange Club has gifted to our community. Again, it is in the large field at First United Methodist Church, 265 West Thompson Lane. That across from the Tennessee Miller Coliseum.
This moving display of flags imparts a sense of healing, optimism, and unity. As visitors walk among the posted flags, they can reflect on the sacrifices made by those who served our country.
Flags can be sponsored to honor Fallen Service Men and Women, First Responders, All Veterans, Heroes in Our Lives, and Hometown Heroes. It’s a patriotic tribute to honor our heroes, and the display is open to all without charge.
Memorial Day is not a "day off work" or "time for a family to go out on the lake or enjoy a cookout".
Memorial Day is a time to honor, remember and pay tribute to those who have given the supreme sacrifice so that we can enjoy the freedoms of living in America, being an American and making certain that others enjoy freedom!
TODAY it is important to say THANK YOU to those brave souls who made the ultimate sacrifice for all in order that the Red, White and Blue stands to protect freedom!
It was a World War I Canadian brother who captured the feelings of those who are watching from above after making the supreme sacrifice. When was the last time that you truly soaked-in the words and emotion's to Lt. John McCrae's "In Flanders Fields"?
In Flanders fields the poppies blow
Between the crosses, row on row,
That mark our place; and in the sky
The larks, still bravely singing, fly
Scarce heard amid the guns below.
We are the Dead. Short days ago
We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow,
Loved and were loved, and now we lie
In Flanders fields.
Take up our quarrel with the foe:
To you from failing hands we throw
The torch; be yours to hold it high.
If ye break faith with us who die
We shall not sleep, though poppies grow
In Flanders fields.
Closing Ceremony 6PM Today
