We are learning more about the Saturday suicide and Sunday murder in the 25-hundred block of Gold Valley Drive. Thirty-year old Tangeneika Wardlow was found shot to death in the home at 1 o'clock Sunday afternoon, one day after her live in boyfriend, a 33-year old black man, reportedly committed suicide. Murfreesboro Police spokesman Kyle Evans says detectives have identified a suspect in Wardlow's murder and have obtained warrants. After the alleged shooting occurred on Sunday, neighbors reported seeing a group leave the home. Officers arrived at the address soon after and discovered Wardlow, who died of a gunshot wound.

Wardlow called police Saturday just after 6pm to report receiving harassing text messages and calls from her deceased boyfriend's ex-girlfriend. According to the incident report, Wardlow told the responding officer that she was being accused on social media by the ex-girlfriend of killing the suicide victim identified on Monday as 33-year old Reginald D. Hughes. Usually, WGNS does not release the names of suicide victims, however, this case is different as it involves a murder the following day.

The murder occurred a day after Wardlow's live-in boyfriend ID’ed as Hughes apparently shot himself in the head. According the police incident reports, when the responding officer arrived just before 2:30am Saturday, he was advised by a passerby that two black males walked away from the residence. They asked the passerby for a ride and told him someone had just been killed in the Gold Valley Drive home. That's when the officer reports hearing calls for help coming from the home. Wardlow told the officer her boyfriend had shot himself. The officer reports she held the victim's head until emergency personnel arrived and pronounced him deceased. Evans told WGNS at this time, suicide is believed to be the cause of the Hughes’ death, pending an autopsy.

We are continuing to follow the murder and suicide story that police are still investigating. We are told that Murfreesboro Police have a suspect in a deadly shooting that occurred on Sunday (4/28/2013), just a day after a man committed suicide at the same address. The name of that suspect has yet to be released.

It happened around 1 o'clock on Sunday afternoon at 2506 Gold Valley Drive, in the same home where an African-American man took his own life on Saturday. MPD Sgt. Kyle Evans told us detectives have identified a suspect in the Gold Valley shooting death and will be obtaining Murder warrants.

The victim is identified as 30-year old Tangeneika Wardlow. After the alleged shooting occurred on Sunday, neighbors reported seeing a group leave the home. Officers arrived at the address soon after and discovered Wardlow, who died of a gunshot wound.

On Saturday, Murfreesboro Police confirmed one man died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound. Sgt. Evans told WGNS News after the preliminary investigation, suicide is believed to be the cause of the subjects’ death on Saturday. That is not the case for the Sunday shooting. Murder is the underlying circumstance that is under investigation at this time.

Murfreesboro Police confirmed that one man was shot dead early Saturday morning (4/27/2013). The shooting occurred on Gold Valley Drive at the address of 2506 at 2:30, Saturday morning. Murfreesboro Police Sgt. Kyle Evans told WGNS News, "After the preliminary investigation, detectives believe foul play can be ruled out pending an autopsy. At this time suicide is believed to be the cause of the subjects death. "

Previous Statement Released by MPD, Prior to Confirmation of Suicide:

The MPD is investigating a shooting death that occurred at 2506 Gold Valley drive around 2:30 this past Saturday morning. Responding officers discovered an adult male shot inside of the residence.   There were several people inside the residence at the time of the shooting and they are being interviewed.  At this point in the investigation detectives have not ruled out the possibility of foul play.   The case remains under investigation.  The name of the deceased will be released in the incident report on Monday. 

The Odd Times in Which We Live:

Years ago, loved ones would learn about the death of a family member by way of a phone call, or perhaps even a letter. Now, names of persons killed in which an investigation into their death is under the discretion of a detective are readily available online. Despite the victim’s name not being released by police, his identity is readily available in social media platforms like Instagram. Family member’s and possibly young children of the deceased have been posting "R.I.P., XXX" throughout the morning. WGNS will however not release his name until an actual confirmation has been made by way of the MPD.
