Murfreesboro, TN – Murfreesboro Mayor Shane McFarland is “live” on WGNS every second Wednesday, and he answers questions from local residents. When he does not have the answer, the mayor checks it out and shares the information.  

A listener asked about massive clearing of a large parcel of land on the New Salem Highway, between Walmart Grocery Store and Publix.

Mayor McFarland reports that the Bell family is developing their land and creating “mixed use residential and commercial frontage”. The project is being called Bell Tower Apartments. It will be a gated, upscale facility that caters toward senior ages.

Bell Tower Apartments [2021-3161] renewal of a site plan for 384 apartment units on 22.56 acres is zoned PRD located along New Salem Highway, Bell Tower Investments, LLC is the developer.

Toward the front section of the property there will be several two-story structures. They will have commercial facilities on the ground level with some of the second floors being luxury condominiums and others being luxury apartments. Reports indicate that some buildings will be 4-stories tall.

There will also be water features throughout the property as well as some wetland areas. Also in the rear of Bell Tower, developers will have luxury apartments for independent living. In addition, adjacent units will serve assisted living and memory care residents.

In all, 384 units will be at located at 2588 New Salem Highway (state route 99) in the Bell Tower Apartments.
